What is Sovereign Style?

Sovereign Style is an event that celebrates the ingenuity, love and warrior voices of indigenous designers. Many of these are women who do not identify themselves as designers because when they create regalia, clothes, blankets and jewelry, it is most often because they are mothers, healers, sisters, friends, elders, grandmothers, mentors and culture carriers. The Suquamish Foundation strives to shine a spotlight on them and their place in the indigenous story. Our fashion showcase raises money to preserve Suquamish culture and celebrate community and strengthen resilience.

Call for Submissions

The Suquamish Foundation is seeking artists and individuals to submit traditional and contemporary designs to be showcased in our Sovereign Style fashion event and competition.

“Sovereign Style to me is the contemporary expression of hundreds of years of tradition. Being a part of this event has been fulfilling – to show my work and to see how others are carrying on tradition.”
