Lisette Austin is a Grant & Technical Writer for the Suquamish Research & Strategic Development Department. She holds a master’s degree in American Indian Studies from the University of Arizona, as well as a writing certification from the University of Washington. She came to this position from the University of Washington, where she spent 12 years working as research coordinator and curriculum trainer for the Healing of the Canoe Project, a collaboration between the Suquamish Tribe, Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe and the UW Alcohol & Drug Abuse Institute. She still helps provide Healing of the Canoe curriculum training to tribal communities across the nation. Lisette also freelances as a WordPress web designer and travel coach, and loves traveling and dancing in her spare time. She lives in the Seattle area with her husband and teenage son.
